A fast and easy way to repair broken drain cables or snakes and get your machine back in operation quickly is with a Quick-Fix connector. It simply screws on tightly to the end of the cable and won’t come off. The Quick-Fix is available in 1/2”, 9/16”, 5/8” and 3/4” sizes for General drain cables.
On the Quick Fix page, watch the repair video at the top.
You can weld the female or male connectors onto the end of the broken cable. Here are written instructions on how to properly weld the connector.
First, always disconnect the machine from the power source before installing cables.
Make sure the cable is loaded into the drum or cage as shown under “Load Cable” videos in our Repair Videos section.
Important: Installing the cable in the wrong direction can cause it to tangle. Watch “Load a Cable into Drum Machine” in our Video Gallery for step-by-step instructions.
Cable Movement: Loosen the top feed knob and try pulling the cable out by hand. If it doesn’t slide freely, it may be tangled in the drum. Remove and reload the cable clockwise, and be sure to lubricate it—dry or rusty cables won’t move easily.
Feed Rollers: Make sure all three rollers spin freely. If they’re dirty or stuck, clean or replace them. If even one is frozen, replace all three for best performance.
Cable Wear: Check for flat spots. If the feed pressure knob is too tight, it can wear the cable flat, causing the feed to slip. You may need to cut off the damaged section or replace the cable entirely.
Watch “Troubleshooting Power Cable Feed” under our Repair Videos in our Video Gallery for more information and to see how to repair the feed yourself.
The most common cause is a dried-out leather cup in the pump. Use Neat’s Foot Oil (the same oil used for baseball gloves)—never use petroleum-based oils like WD-40 or 3-in-1 oil.
To oil the leather cup, simply lift the pump rod all the way up and squeeze a few drops of Neat’s Foot Oil into the hole at the top of the pump cylinder. Rotate the rod to evenly coat the leather—no disassembly required.
If that doesn’t fix the issue, a Pump Repair Kit (Part # KRRK) is available. It includes all necessary seals and a small container of Neat’s Foot Oil, plus a diagram to guide you through the easy repair process.

Water Supply: Make sure your pump is getting enough water. Fill a 2-gallon bucket and time it. If it takes 2 minutes and you have a 4 GPM pump, that’s not enough flow. Also, check that the inlet filter is clean and not clogged.
Worn Nozzles or Check Valves: If you’ve had the jet for a while, the nozzles may be worn—even stainless steel ones wear out. Try swapping in a new nozzle to see if pressure improves. Also check the check valves in the pump cylinders for dirt or wear. Be careful when opening the brass, metric pump caps—use the right tools to avoid damage.
Pump Seals: If none of the above solves it, you may need to replace the pump seals. If you’re not comfortable doing it yourself, call customer service to find a repair center near you.

Remove the AutoCut housing by taking out the small screws. Open the gate as wide as possible, and then separate the metal springs so that the shaft holding the cutting wheel comes loose. (It is helpful to use a large flathead screwdriver–insert the blade and twist.) Replace the wheel on the shaft, return the wheel to its original position and re-assemble the AutoCut.
